When does it ship?
US deliveries begin Q3 2026, with a second batch following in Q4. Built in small batches and filled in the order pre-orders are received.
Is the deposit refundable?
Yes. The $50 deposit is fully refundable at any time before your unit ships.
What is the difference between Virtues OS and Virtues API?
Virtues OS is the open-source software that runs on your server — free, forever. Virtues API is the optional $20/mo subscription that powers the cloud-side conveniences — AI inference, integrations, and web search — all under Zero Data Retention agreements. Pre-orders include 3 months of Virtues API.
Why $20/mo, and where does it go?
The $20 is passed straight through as a $20 flat-rate usage credit — you could theoretically consume the full amount and Virtues keeps 0% margin. We use a flat rate (rather than metered billing) so your usage stays fully anonymous: we keep no content, no payloads, and have no way to tie Virtues API activity back to a person. The monthly model exists because Virtues OS leans on real recurring costs — entity resolution, Google Places, LLM inference, Plaid connections, and paid enterprise data sources — that are paramount to how the OS works.
What does the hardware include?
The Virtues Server, power supply, and all cabling. A near-silent mini PC designed to sit on a bookshelf — well under 40W draw.
What does the Virtues subscription actually cover?
Your Server runs locally and is yours. The Virtues subscription powers the cloud-side conveniences — integrations, AI inference, web search — through a zero-PII proxy. As consumer hardware and local models catch up, more of these move on-device, and the subscription shrinks with them.
How does pricing work?
Two paths. $0/mo — fully self-hosted, DIY: all code open source, every endpoint exposed, run your own proxies. It's genuinely hard, and almost nobody will do it, but the path exists and we keep it open on purpose. $20/mo — standard: the zero-PII proxy, integrations, OAuth brokering, web search, and pooled inference. Bringing your own AI keys lives here too — the conveniences are bundled in either way. That's it — no power-user tier, no upsell.
